Laundry Day

I already hate blogging. What can I say, I, too, like the french am a bit lazy. If you know me at all, you should have known this reaction was bound to happen. Well, I hate blogging like a hate laundry. I know I should do it, but it builds up and well then you dread the idea of even dealing with it. But I wouldn't want to disappoint my two followers, alas, je le fais.

So let me get you up to speed on my life here so far: carbs, stress, alcohol, carbs and, who am I kidding more, carbs. (I hope my mom doesnt read this :/ ) I'll elaborate...

25/09/11-28/09/11: Paris
Je vraiment aime cette ville! Possibly my favorite. Aside from the chaos and tourist aspects, there's something about the air here that turns even the most cold-hearted into desperate romantics. (Pas moi bien sur ;) ) Juan, Cata, the bb and me decided to go to Brussels and explore that Monday. Meh, it's a nice city but if you haven't been, you're not really missing much. The cantral area is quite gorgeous, I must admit.

We  ate some fantastic frites with massive amounts of various beers, got lost ALOT, and mock their honest transportation system (Colombia has definitely made us cynics).

Back in Paris, Cata and I explored a completely different side of the city: the Catacombs. How shall I describe this:  interesting, petrifying, en lighting, macabre, grounding. Listen, there are very few things in this world that will arouse those feelings together, so I definitely recommend checking this out if you're in Paris. So incredible to see thousands and thousand of bones just stacked as decoration. C'est la vie! There's definitely more to the city of lights than meets the surface ( Boom! that was deep)

The next day, I barely made my train to Grenoble and three hours later I arrived, but I did capture this one picture of my niece before I left. Adorbs!

28/09/11-05/10/11: Grenoble

Ok so this will be quick. Finding apartment, opening, bank account, getting cellphone, going to school, filling out forms, meeting assistants, exploring the town, unpacking, getting a tram card, etc. =Hell. So I quickly learned a way to manage my stress, enter carbs! I truthfully astonished as how easily I ate a demi-baguette now a days. But most of that stuff I've now gotten out of the way so now the good part.

  • Beautiful town. Small, but surrounded by mountains.
  • Mondays I have off! and a lot free time throughout the week.
  • calculated vacation days: 58 out of 213. Thank you french vacation organizer person
  • found an apt. finally. Living with an Argentinian woman and her son in a really nice area in town. She cooks sometimes and it's fantastic!
  • Have met lots of international people, mais pas beaucoup de francais encore :(
  • practicing my french a lot!
Wooo... I feel so much better. Like "I just hung up and folded all my clean clothes" kind of better!   I leave you with a couple of pictures of my time here so far as well as my cute school appropriate teaching outfits! Bisous

Oy here we go...

Alright this will be my first blogging entry. I can't imagine anyone other than my parents would be interested my rambling, but I'll try and make it entretaining. After all, lying is one of my fortés. I'm kind of excited tho. I will do my best to keep the entries short, sweet and sassy.

I'm in Paris yall!

After some tearful and hard goodbyes and checking in 140lbs. of luggage, I was finally on my way.
The night before I left consisted of Twix, wine, tampons, cellulite                                               cream and of course, it wouldn't be a get together without Maria sleeping.

Saying goodbye to the parents. I'm pretty sure this goodbye defeated all my getting ready in the morning seeing as I cried for a good 30 minutes after I passed security.

I arrived in Paris on Sunday at 7 am looking fabulously Parisian, in my mind at least (but I guess the black and white stripped shirt and red lips is kind of a cliché). I met up with Juan and Cata, my oldest brother and his wife, and my becca loo loo ( my 7 month old niece). We headed to the Champs-Elysses and dined with about 4 lbs of mussles, 2 bottles of wine and a delicious creme brulée at Léon de Bruxelles. After, we strolled the Seine until 2 am. Ahh I can already tell I'm going to love this new adventure.
